SBS Facts: The network was initially set up by the Government in 1975 who were concerned about being able to reach the non-english speaking residents with details of the Medibank health insurance scheme. This started with a radio station in both Sydney & Melbourne and it was 4 years later in 1979 when SBS TV began. SBS Radio broadcasts throughout Australia with programming including 68 languages. The most successful ever TV show on SBS, is South Park which first aired in 1998. Due to often risque late night foreign content, SBS is often referred to as 'Sex Before Sleep'. Top Rating SBS Programs include South Park, The World Game (soccer show), Top Gear & Inspector Rex.
